Ruby started making liquorice extract and cough sweets when she was twelve years old; her passion for plant medicine grew when she went to the USA. Studying Native American Indian plant medicine she madeointments and herbal extracts. Studying at the Botanical Institute in New York furthered her interest in plant energies and preparations. On her return to London she contibued to make a varied range of her own creams, lotions and ointments for repeat customers.

Ruby also studied Ayurveda Medicine, Chinese herbalism, pathology and aromatherapy. Her reputation grew and Neal's Yard Apothecary invited her to join them where she continued to research and develop. Ruby went on to work in Australia as a Pratictioner and on her return continued with her love of formulation, finally setting up VERDE London Limited in 1988. This has been the most successful move to date and continues to be highly regarded within the industry and, more importantly, by our customers.
